Understanding Funeral Costs with Memorial Woodlands
Planning a funeral will involve varying considerations, some complex. Managing cost can be part of this. At Memorial Woodlands, we believe in transparency and seek to provide families with options that balance the dignity of the occasion with cost. Whether you’re considering a simple burial, an individually crafted service, or a natural burial, an appreciation of how any costs may be broken down help you make informed decisions.

Factors that may affect the cost of a funeral.
Several factors will affect the overall cost of each funeral. Costs vary with the type and complexity of any service, as will the choice between burial and cremation. These are some of the variables:
Type of Funeral
The type of funeral chosen plays a part in the eventual cost. The simplest and most affordable funerals include direct burial, a simple service with no attendees in a plot chosen for you by the cemetery. Here at Memorial Woodlands we with notify you once the interment has taken place, letting you know when and where the grave is to be found. We will provide a simple grave marker, which many families then choose to enhance with a simple stone memorial, something we will be pleased to help with.
Burial or Cremation?
This is an entirely personal matter. We will help you, whatever you decide. It is certainly worth contacting our team, who will be pleased to explain to you your choices and discuss our various offers, where a half day reservation with a service and use of our reception rooms, together with a burial plot is crafted with cost in mind and here usually costs less than a service involving cremation.
Coffins and Shrouds
Your choice of coffin, or shroud, can affect the eventual cost of a funeral. Our team will be pleased to discuss your preferences with you.
Additional Services
Each funeral is different but the extras, such as flowers, transportation and any memorial reception or “wake” can add to the eventual cost. Why not contact the team at Memorial Woodlands, they will help you explore your options and explain to you our offers, for both burial and cremation, that include the use of our chapel and reception rooms, a burial or interment plot and the services of a celebrant, who will help craft the detail of the service and lead you through that service on the day.

Burial and Ashes Plot Pricing
At Memorial Woodlands, a wide selection of plots are available, whether for burial or the interment of ashes. Each plot comes with a 125-year lease, which provides a long-term resting place in the tranquillity of our 100-acre woodland reserve.
Memorial Woodlands is an ecological reserve in the making and each interment provides for the further evolution of the site, which is carefully managed by our charitable trust: Bristol Memorial Woodland Trust. Bristol Memorial Woodlands makes a donation to the trust to help in its work, following each plot sale. Families are encouraged to help the trust by making donations too. Creating a space for public benefit, an environmental reserve, requires careful management and each donation goes toward securing the ongoing and future stewardship of the site.
Each burial or interment is helping to craft the mixture of woodland, meadow and glade, providing a tranquil setting for quiet reflection, a place to remember and re-visit time and again.
