JOB VACANCY - BEREAVEMENT SPECIALIST
We are looking for a bereavement specialist counsellor to support the development of our new bereavement service and the delivery of bereavement support groups as well as bereavement walks. The successful candidate will be an accredited specialist who is experienced in providing closed group bereavement support.
The work will initially be on a sessional basis. We aim to develop and grow the bereavement support service over time and with demand. With your support, we will be developing and offering weekly evening sessions over a 7-week programme for the closed bereavement group. We will also be setting up open bereavement walks on a monthly basis.
We are looking for someone who has experience in creating and facilitating bereavement groups and who can run sessions with our partner Gentle Dusk. You will have relevant training and accreditation in bereavement counselling, you will have experience of working with bereaved adults for the NHS, private practice and/or the charitable sector. You will have experience in using a range of creative therapeutic interventions and techniques. You will have experience of one-to-one assessment and group work and you will be registered with a relevant professional body. You will also have experience of developing bereavement services.
Bristol Memorial Woodlands is a 100-acre cemetery near Thornbury, offering environmentally-friendly woodland burials where trees and wild flowers are planted around plots to create a nature reserve for future generations. Also encompassing a chapel and reception rooms it is managed by a charitable trust and provides families with a location for unhurried, bespoke funerals for loved ones.
Together with Gentle Dusk we aim to provide high quality training and support around end-of-life care and bereavement to all those who need it in Bristol and surrounding areas.
Salary/rate of £60-£80 per hour dependent on experience. Group sessions: 3hrs a week. Professional supervision will be paid for.
