Memorial Woodlands is a 20 acre woodland cemetery site near Thornbury, Bristol. We offer a unique, personal approach to funerals, where only one service is ever held each day and families are encouraged to plan a personal service involving the on-site facilities of non-denominational chapel, reception rooms and woodland cemetery.

The basic principles of time, space and privacy are paramount to us at Memorial Woodlands – we have worked with over 2,000 families over the last ten years and understand the individual needs of each funeral we plan. We pride ourselves on our compassionate approach and as a result of our personal services Memorial Woodlands has cemented its place as the South West’s premier Woodland Cemetery.

Our highly acclaimed, professional and caring team at MW Funeral Directors can help plan all types of funerals including traditional, multi-faith or ecological and can work at any location of your choice, if you choose not to use the facilities at Memorial Woodlands. We have found that many people want to be actively involved in the organisation of the funeral; a rare possibility in traditional funerary processes. This is something that has become central to our reputation within Bristol. We encourage active participation in the planning of funerals, focussing on making services unique and personal to those involved, providing the ideal setting to honour the deceased. Burials at Memorial Woodlands follow an eco-friendly approach. In times of increasing environmental awareness, the Memorial Woodland offers a place where the planting of indigenous woodland helps reduce your 'carbon footprint', and where materials and methods used for burial are environmentally sound wherever possible.

Everything that happens at Memorial Woodlands is set in the context of developing an indigenous mixed woodland and wildlife habitat. For just over a decade we have transformed the hedgerows, small fields and rolling meadows of this beautifully serene valley near Thornbury into a woodland cemetery for future generations to remember and enjoy.
