Tranquil, light and airy…
our Georgian reception rooms and non-denominational chapel are the perfect setting for unhurried goodbyes
Alongside the cemetery, set within a secluded courtyard with a tranquil pond, sit our private chapel and adjacent reception rooms. Of original Georgian architecture, both buildings are peaceful, light and airy, a beautiful and calming setting in which to celebrate a life and say unhurried farewells.
Our chapel is non-denominational, which means it is suitable for services for any faith or spiritual belief. Whether you seek a contemporary or orthodox service, or a combination of the two, the chapel is yours for as long as you wish and the service can incorporate as many different elements as you feel are truly appropriate to the life being celebrated.
We work with many celebrants and ministers, each with their own, unique style, and can introduce you if you wish. Or, of course, you can ask a minister or celebrant known to you to conduct the service.
Our reception rooms and surrounding lawns are ideal for refreshments before and after a funeral service or burial. Just a few steps from the chapel, we always recommend to our families that they invite guests to meet for tea and coffee before the funeral. This has a calming effect on everyone and helps bring a sense of unity to the occasion before the service.
After the service it is usual for guests to be invited back to the reception rooms for refreshments. Guests are welcome to enjoy the grounds and the pond as well as the building and to return to the chapel if they wish for private goodbyes and reflection. As with most elements of our funeral directing and cemetery services the catering is relaxed and it’s your choice whether to use our in-house caterers, use caterers known to you or supply your own food.
If you’d like to tour the chapel and reception rooms you can take a virtual Google tour or, better still, call to arrange a private visit.
