At Memorial Woodlands, we pride ourselves on giving you more choice before the funeral and more time to say farewell on the day. These are the two elements which we believe make funerals here a more uplifting and cathartic experience for everyone. Empathy for each and every one of our clients and attendees is so important when arranging a funeral. It is so important for us to understand the expectations of the attendees and make them feel as settled as possible when the day of the service comes. We put each and every need of our clients first to ensure that the service goes exactly as they would want it to be for their loved one. Our standards will never lower and we promise to be the most trusted funeral directors in the whole of the Bristol area.
From our many years of experience, we’ve come to terms that the overriding sentiment behind funerals at Memorial Woodlands is the celebration of life, rather than the mourning of a loss. Celebrating life brings more positivity for our attendees and helps the funeral to feel more comforting. We do understand that it is quite an emotional time losing a family member, therefore we will always allow our clients to experience the funeral in whatever way comforts them.
But of course, our woodland isn’t just a place to say goodbye – it’s also a beautiful living memorial, where friends and family can visit and reminisce in the days, weeks and years that follow. Following a funeral, do feel free to come to our magnificent woodland to look back at the experiences you shared with a lost loved one.

A whole day to say farewell
A proper farewell should never be rushed. That’s why at Memorial Woodlands we give you the whole day to say goodbye to your loved one at your own pace. Whether you choose to arrange a picnic in the private gardens, a musical recital in the chapel or a game of rounders in the meadow, when we say “take all the time you need” we truly mean it. It is a priority to us that all of our attendees leave our property feeling as if they have said goodbye to their loved way properly. Keeping our attendees in good light of the situation is something that Memorial Woodlands do their very best to do. Despite the difficulty of the time, we will always give our best efforts to all of our clients.
The choices are yours
Saying goodbye to a loved one is a deeply personal experience. That’s why we listen to your wishes and help you to craft a completely bespoke funeral plan, full of personal touches which reflect the life being celebrated. Before the funeral we will always make that extra effort to make sure everything is immaculate for your personal needs. It’s these moments of individuality which guests recall fondly and often become part of the conversation when they remember their loved one, even after many years. This is why we take care in every single element of a funeral service and provide our clients with every facility and service they may need.
The finest facilities
In the heart of the woodlands, hidden behind a row of yew trees, sits our chapel, garden and reception venue. Originally a tannery dating back to the 1820s, the buildings have been sympathetically modernised while retaining their period charms.
The reception venue exudes simplicity and elegance. Downstairs, the open-hearth fireplace and large flagstone flooring provide a touch of country grandeur while the upstairs entertaining space feels light and airy thanks to floor-to-ceiling glazing. We take pride in the history and glamour of our venue.
The non-denominational chapel features double-height ceilings and large windows that flood the room with light, creating a spectacular and atmospheric setting for funeral services. Appearance of the venue plays a huge part of the atmosphere and feel of a funeral. Keeping our venue in great condition for our services is hugely important to us to ensure consistency at Memorial Woodlands.
A complete offering
We understand that when a loved one passes, your first priority is to spend time with your family. By providing you with everything you require at this time, including funeral direction, transportation of the deceased, a chapel of rest, a reception venue and of course our woodland burial site, we take away many of the complexities that come with making funeral arrangements.
More than memories
As well as being a place of rest, Memorial Woodlands is also a new public parkland. As far as we’re aware, it’s the first of its kind to be created in Britain for a generation. Because all 100 acres will be held in trust, the woodlands are also protected for the pleasure of future generations as well.
Walkers are welcome to enjoy the variety of colours as the trees change with the seasons. Nature lovers can find spots that are perfect for glimpsing nesting birds. Meanwhile the open spaces provide a beautiful setting for family picnics.
