At Memorial Woodlands, we pride ourselves on giving you more choice before the funeral and more time to say farewell on the day. These are the two elements which we believe make funerals here a more uplifting and cathartic experience for everyone.
But of course, our woodland isn’t just a place to say goodbye – it’s also a beautiful living memorial, where friends and family can visit and reminisce in the days, weeks and years that follow.

A whole day to say farewell
A proper farewell should never be rushed. That’s why we give you the whole day to say goodbye at your own pace. Whether you choose to arrange a picnic in the private gardens, a musical recital in the chapel or a game of rounders in the meadow, when we say “take all the time you need” we truly mean it.
The choices are yours
Saying goodbye to a loved one is a deeply personal experience. That’s why we listen to your wishes and help you to craft a completely bespoke funeral plan, full of personal touches which reflect the life being celebrated. It’s these moments of individuality which guests recall fondly and often become part of the conversation when they remember their loved one, even after many years.
The finest facilities
In the heart of the woodlands, hidden behind a row of yew trees, sits our chapel, garden and reception venue. Originally a tannery dating back to the 1820s, the buildings have been sympathetically modernised while retaining their period charms.
The reception venue exudes simplicity and elegance. Downstairs, the open-hearth fireplace and large flagstone flooring provide a touch of country grandeur while the upstairs entertaining space feels light and airy thanks to floor-to-ceiling glazing.
The non-denominational chapel features double-height ceilings and large windows that flood the room with light, creating a spectacular and atmospheric setting for funeral services.
A complete offering
We understand that when a loved one passes, your first priority is to spend time with your family. By providing you with everything you require at this time, including funeral direction, transportation of the deceased, a chapel of rest, a reception venue and of course our woodland burial site, we take away many of the complexities that come with making funeral arrangements.
More than memories
As well as being a place of rest, Memorial Woodlands is also a new public parkland. As far as we’re aware, it’s the first of its kind to be created in Britain for a generation. Because all 100 acres will be held in trust, the woodlands are also protected for the pleasure of future generations as well.
Walkers are welcome to enjoy the variety of colours as the trees change with the seasons. Nature lovers can find spots that are perfect for glimpsing nesting birds. Meanwhile the open spaces provide a beautiful setting for family picnics.
